Artspace is an approachable and experimental visual art organisation working to build on Coventry’s developing reputation as a centre for visual art innovation and excellence. From our intriguing heritage building in Coventry city centre we manage projects such as:
The Artistic Programme: providing a range of opportunities for artists to make and present new work in the city, public events and volunteering
Visual Artist Studios and associated Members’ Scheme: affordable ‘messy’ spaces, free test space, professional development and a local peer network for artists
Outreach and Education: connecting our programme and projects with people from all walks of life in Coventry
Arts Development for Coventry City Council: services for artists and community organisations, grants and strategic developmental projects for the arts in the city
This slideshow depicts the past 18 months at Coventry Artspace, including our ARC artistic programme and supported artist activity in our building.
The featuring song 'Two Lovers Met' by Tailor and the Crow is from the album 'To this I will Declare' which was recorded in the Artspace building.

About Artspace staff:
Laura Elliott’s multi-disciplinary practice derives from an interest in sharing the stories of people and places; the kind of unique and often unusual stories that come from living in an old country. She uses a variety of mechanisms to realise contemporary visual art and heritage projects; often in collaboration with other people.
Since 2009 Laura has been Director of Coventry Artspace, leading on artistic programming, strategic and organisational development, management of staff and volunteers, fundraising and working closely with the Board of Trustees.
Laura also heads a team delivering Coventry City Council’s Arts Development Services, strengthening the art offer in Coventry for artists, audiences, community groups and stakeholders via strategy development and support projects.
Her dream is to open a museum one day.
Amber Merrick – Potter is a recent MFA graduate and fine art painter with a strong and varied visual arts background, having worked as a practicing artist and creative facilitator for over 6 years. Amber is represented by a number of nationwide galleries and has shown work in solo and group exhibitions across the UK. She recently completed an International Residency programme in India before joining Artspace as Artistic Coordinator, leading on development and delivery of the artistic programme with staff, members and artist networks.
Jackie Stevens is Artspace’s highly experienced Finance Manager & Company Secretary with a particular passion for the visual arts, culture and the city of Coventry. Jackie was co-owner of popular independent cafe and bookshop ‘The Wedge’ in Coventry from 1977 until 1997, when she joined Coventry Artspace. Jackie is often the first point of contact at the Artspace office.
